The NFL is saddened by the death of Amani Joy Ward, the 1-year-old daughter of 49ers CB Charvarius Ward and his partner, Monique. It was terrible news that Charvarius shared on social media on October 28, 2024. He also wrote a touching dedication to his late daughter.
Charvarius shared a touching picture of Amani, who was beaming with happiness, along with a touching message. “She was the greatest blessing we could have hoped for,” he said. “Her cheerful disposition brought us smiles from ear to ear, teaching us patience, trust, and an optimistic outlook on life.”
The sad father praised Amani’s bravery and strength, even though she was young and had to deal with problems. He loved how having Amani as a child gave him and Monique a unique view of life.
People who knew Charvarius and worked for the 49ers responded to his emotional posts with a lot of support. The team remembered Amani by saying that she was a picture of pure happiness because she had a laugh that could make anyone happy.
Monique also shared her sadness on social media by writing, “My baby.” “Why, God?” The couple’s love and devotion to Amani were clear from the touching posts and pictures they shared on their Instagram account that was just for their daughter.
Charvarius celebrated World Down Syndrome Day in March 2024 by having special times with Amani. He said that at first, he thought having Down syndrome was a burden, but that he soon realised it was “a gift from God.” Being Amani’s dad taught him to be patient and accept things as they are.
The NFL community is coming together to support Charvarius and Monique. During this hard time, we send our deepest apologies to them and their families. People who knew and loved Amani Joy will always remember her.
Charvarius started the charity Charvarius for Change in 2021, and it still spreads hope and happiness. Even though Amani’s death leaves a hole, her parents’ love and support will make sure her memory lives on.
